XC Summer/Camp Info
2024 Cross Country Camp
Team Camp Update: Athletes that qualify for camp must take care of two items prior to departure. First, athletes must be officially signed up for cross country through familyID (23+ athletes have already done this). Second, the camp fee of $110 (not to be confused with the fall sports fee) needs to be paid (please check with Coach Knutson if the fee is an issue). The link is now available HERE to pay online. The webstore link has been known to cause problems. If that is the case please access the CGHS Webstore via the parent resources dropdown menu at the CGHS home page. The "item" is specifically be listed as XC Camp Registration. The fee may also be paid in person or over the phone through contacting Lena Twyman in the main office (as of 8/6). For safety reasons we will not be posting a full camp schedule and itinerary here, but will hand out printed versions to athletes at practice the week before camp. The handout will also include a list of suggested items to bring. How many practice points have you accumulated this summer? You may check HERE.
Cross Country Camp Information/Criteria is below:
Athletes that acquire enough practice points over the summer will be eligible to attend our team camp. There will be more details to come as we get closer, but here are the important points for now:
Dates: 8/12 - 8/14. We will leave Monday morning (8am) and return Wednesday afternoon. A detailed itinerary including a list of what to bring will be distributed at practice as we get closer.
Location/Facility: Glide, OR at Little River Christian Camp (we are renting the facility).
Cost: $110 per athlete (includes a shirt, six meals, and transportation to and from camp from CGHS). As athletes qualify for camp a link will be available here to pay online or the fee may also be paid in the office when it opens.
Athletes must meet the following criteria to attend camp:
Accumulate a minimum of 20 practice points. Athletes may earn a point for attending each of the 34 workouts offered during the summer and possible partial points for other potential fundraiser activities such as help with graduation set up/tear down. Athletes that are out of town and not able to attend practices may submit evidence of workouts (30 minute minimum) by sending pictures or screenshots of workouts to Coach Knutson via remind or email (ricky.knutson@slane.k12.or.us). Athletes may view practice point progress by accessing the spreadsheet HERE.
For safety reasons athletes must be fit enough to be able to stay with one of the main training groups. We cover a significant amount of ground during the runs and will not have enough supervision for athletes that are not able to keep up with a main training group.
Athletes must be officially signed up for cross country on familyID.
Camp is not required, but will be a fantastic opportunity to train and connect with teammates.
For those not attending the camp, official practice to start the season with the entire team will be August 19th at 9am at CGHS.
2023 XC Camp Highlights!
Despite triple digit temperatures and a little smoke the team had an amazing start to the season! It's tough to put into words how successful the trip was, so Coach Tucker wrapped it up into a great highlight video!
